Chapter History
The Theta Nu chapter of ZTA was founded on April 15th, 1978 as the 182nd link in the chain of chapters of Zeta Tau Alpha! Our colonization process started in May 1977. We hit the ground running on AUM’s campus with activities and winning Homecoming Queen our first active year. Our first initiation services were held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on April 14th and 15th. Our charter members are: Lisa Adams, Connie Ballas, Jane Bowen, Kathy Box, Peggy Cook, Maria Collins, Dawn Hayes, Lynn Hayes, Lisa Hill, Karen Janert, Sue Ellen Johns, Carol Johnson, Jean Johnson, Donna Jordan, Brenda Mitchell, Shari Olm, Pam Ragan, Liz Sadie, Kathy Salter, Dawn Sexton, Christy Sommer, Amy Trettien, Sandy Troutman, Cynthia Wachs and Lynn Zahniser. Throughout the years we have succeeded on and off AUM’s campus. We have served as SGA Presidents, athletes, ambassadors, student leaders, volunteers, honor society and scholarship recipients, diamond dolls and much more to come. Our chapter has been awarded the coveted ZTA Crown Chapter Award every year since 2013. This award is given to chapters who successfully complete specified criteria such as achieving a 3.0 GPA, having 100 percent participation by our members in AUM clubs and organizations on campus, and completing mental health and academic programs. Here at AUM and in Theta Nu we continually strive for greatness and we cannot wait to see what the future holds.
